Child Care Centre

Relationships at the Heart of Learning
Our philosophy is grounded in strong, responsive relationships with children and whānau.
Because we are a small centre, we take time to truly know each child — their personality, interests, and home routines. This allows us to provide consistent, nurturing care and learning experiences that support each child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and growth.
We believe children thrive when they feel secure, understood, and valued for who they are.
Our Journey Together
At Christopher Robin Child Care Centre, we are a small, family-owned early childhood centre where every child is truly known, valued, and supported as a capable learner.
Our homely environment reflects the warmth of a close-knit community, helping children feel safe, confident, and connected from the moment they arrive.
A Family-Like Learning Community
We offer a mixed-age setting that encourages natural learning through collaboration, kindness, and shared experiences.
Younger tamariki learn alongside older children, while older children develop empathy, leadership, and responsibility. This reflects the rhythms of family life and creates a calm, supportive environment where meaningful relationships naturally develop.
Our Approach
At Christopher Robin, we go beyond childcare — we provide a warm, nurturing environment where children feel a deep sense of belonging.
Our teaching is guided by Te Whāriki and shaped by children’s interests, strengths, and voices. Through play, exploration, and intentional teaching, we support children to develop curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Families choose us because they trust that their children are cared for as individuals — with kindness, consistency, and genuine connection.

At Christopher Robin Child Care Centre, we offer more than just childcare — we provide a nurturing, family-like environment where children feel safe, valued, and loved. Our small size allows us to build strong, meaningful relationships with every child and their whānau, creating a sense of belonging that supports confident, happy learners.
With a warm, homely setting and a caring team who truly know each child, we focus on supporting emotional wellbeing, fostering curiosity, and encouraging social skills that last a lifetime. Families choose us because they trust that their children are cared for as individuals — with kindness, consistency, and genuine connection.

Meet Our Educators

Trish
I am a qualified early childhood teacher with a Diploma in Teaching (ECE), a Full Practising Certificate, and Comprehensive Childcare First Aid certification. I have worked in early childhood education for over 30 years, including 11 years as a kindergarten Head Teacher before owning Christopher Robin Child Care Centre for the past 19 years. I am passionate about holistic education and creating environments where children feel safe, nurtured, and inspired to learn. I enjoy working with children of all ages and love the curiosity, creativity, and unique perspectives they bring each day. Family is at the heart of everything I do, both at home and within our centre community. As a devoted grandmother, I value the warm, homely atmosphere that makes Christopher Robin such a special place for children and whānau.

Philippa
I am a qualified early childhood teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education), a Full Practising Certificate, and Comprehensive Childcare First Aid certification. With over 17 years of experience, I am passionate about creating warm, respectful, and relationship-based learning environments where children feel confident, capable, and valued. I enjoy working with all age groups and especially love supporting preschool children as they explore ideas, research projects, and develop their working theories, while also nurturing infants and toddlers through their early milestones and discoveries. Building strong reciprocal relationships with children and whānau is at the heart of my teaching practice. Outside of work, I enjoy drawing, art, and spending time with my family — especially movie nights with my children. I feel very grateful to be part of children’s early learning journeys and to support families during such an important stage of life.

Madu
I am a warm, caring, and energetic teacher with a Diploma in Teacher Training & Early Childhood (Level 4) and Comprehensive Childcare First Aid certification. Originally from Sri Lanka and a mother of two daughters, I bring over five years of experience supporting children over two years of age in play-based learning environments. I am passionate about creating safe, nurturing spaces where children feel happy, valued, and confident to explore and learn. I especially enjoy supporting children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth through creative play experiences and meaningful relationships. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and continuing to learn more about child development. I feel grateful to be part of the Christopher Robin team and value building warm partnerships with children and their families.

Hyma
I bring over 16 years of experience in early childhood education and have a calm, nurturing, and caring approach with children. I hold a Master of Science in Information Systems and a current First Aid certification. I especially enjoy working with babies and supporting children through their earliest milestones, discoveries, and learning experiences. Building strong relationships with children and families is very important to me, and I value creating a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels confident, secure, and supported to learn through play and exploration. Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music and spending quality time with my family. I feel privileged to support children during such an important stage of their development and love helping them learn and grow.

Tranacy
I am a passionate early childhood teacher who completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) at Auckland University of Technology in 2024. I hold a Full Practising Certificate and a current First Aid Certificate. I enjoy working with children aged 2–5 years and am passionate about creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where children feel confident to learn through play, creativity, and relationships. I particularly value supporting children to build friendships, kindness, and confidence as they grow. One of my favourite parts of teaching is drawing with children and listening to the stories they share through their artwork. Outside of work, I enjoy singing and love sharing music, singing, and dancing experiences with children to help build joy and confidence in the classroom.
