Learning Through Play, Relationships & Discovery
Our learning is play-based and child-led, encouraging children to explore, discover, and learn through their interests. We plan experiences based on observations, children's interests, and ongoing communication with whānau.
At Christopher Robin Child Care Centre, we provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow with confidence. Through caring relationships and meaningful play experiences, we support each child’s learning and development at their own pace.
Infants Programme
(0 – 2 years)
Our infants experience a calm, nurturing environment where strong, responsive relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We follow each child’s individual routines, providing consistency, comfort, and emotional security as they transition between home and centre life.
Through sensory play, movement, music, books, and meaningful interactions, we support infants to explore the world at their own pace. Our teachers gently scaffold early learning milestones such as communication, movement, and social connection, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and deeply cared for.
We place strong emphasis on primary caregiving and close relationships with whānau, ensuring a true sense of belonging from the very beginning.
Toddlers Programme
(2 – 3.5 years)
Our toddler programme is designed to support growing independence, curiosity, and confidence. At this stage, children are actively exploring their sense of self, developing friendships, and beginning to express their ideas more clearly.
We provide a rich environment filled with opportunities for creative play, problem-solving, movement, and early group experiences. Teachers support children to develop language, emotional regulation, and social skills through gentle guidance, modelling, and positive relationships.
Toddlers are encouraged to explore, make choices, and develop confidence in their abilities while being supported by caring teachers who understand their developmental needs.
Preschool Programm
(3.5 – 5 years)
Our preschool programme supports children as they prepare for school through meaningful, play-based learning experiences that encourage thinking, questioning, and discovery.
We build on children’s interests through projects, inquiry learning, storytelling, art, early literacy and numeracy, and collaborative group experiences. Teachers intentionally scaffold learning to extend thinking, build problem-solving skills, and support independence.
We value children’s voices and encourage them to share ideas, lead their own learning, and develop confidence as capable learners. Social skills, resilience, and emotional awareness are also nurtured as children grow into confident, curious, and engaged members of their community.
At Christopher Robin, we strive to create a home-away-from-home where every child feels safe, respected, and inspired to learn, grow, and belong.
